Our History

Rushlight Ventures began as a venture studio within its sister company, Cornerstone Research Group (CRG). CRG has been a successful government contractor “doing defense differently” for over 25 years. Rushlight Ventures was formed because it’s difficult for a company focused on delivering high-quality research, development, testing and evaluation services (RDT&E) and other large programs to also be successful at technology commercialization.

Graphic that says HistoryOnce the venture studio was formed, it rapidly became apparent that CRG is not alone in facing these challenges. Transitioning from RDT&E to routine production/procurement, creating startups, and engaging with commercialization partners to monetize intellectual property requires a different set of experience and infrastructure. Rushlight Ventures bridges the gap — our team has decades of experience in new technology development and commercialization, aerospace and defense RDT&E, new company formation and financing, licensing, and mergers and acquisitions.

Companies primarily focused on delivering high-quality research, development, testing, and evaluation services (RDT&E) and other large programs may find it challenging to be equally adept at technology commercialization.

That’s why Rushlight Ventures (RLV) originated as a venture studio in 2020 within Cornerstone Research Group (CRG), its sister company and a renowned government contractor for more than 25 years.

Soon after forming the venture studio, leadership realized that CRG was not the only company grappling with transition and monetization difficulties, and RLV was spun off as an independent entity in 2021.

Today, RLV successfully bridges the gap between RDT&E and commercialization through its seasoned team.

Expanding footprint.

In 2023, RLV built out its staff and acquired new satellite office space at the Innovation Hub in the historical Dayton Arcade complex, affording flexibility to meet with clients, business partners, entrepreneurs, and community stakeholders both in Dayton and in Miamisburg, Ohio.

Experience matters.

Transitioning from RDT&E to routine production/procurement, creating startups, and partnering with commercialization entities to monetize intellectual property necessitates different experiences and infrastructure.

RLV staff possess decades of experience in new technology development and commercialization, aerospace and defense RDT&E, new company formation, financing, licensing, and mergers and acquisitions.

We have the knowledge and ability to take you from now to wow.
